Exclusivity
When adding a Reserved datacenter zone the IP’s that are reserved in the zones’ IP pool can be non-exclusive, fully exclusive, or exclusive only for specific domains.
IP pool exclusivity options
IPs in the Reserved datacenter zone remain static (i.e. the IP’s in the zones’ IP pool will not change), however the IPs are still available for other Bytio customers to use.
IPs in the IP-pool are fully exclusive to your Bytio account and will not be used by any other Bytio customer.
IPs in the IP-pool are exclusive to your account for the specific domains listed. They remain available for other Bytio customers to use for other domains.
Using Specific domains can be a great way to lower costs when you don’t need the IPs to be fully exclusive for all domains.
The following conditions apply for specific-domain exclusivity:
- Requests made to the zone for domains that are not in the zones’ Specific domains list will still succeed, but will be routed via a Bytio load balancer, not a proxy IP.
- Requests made to a sub-domain of a domain in the zones’ Specific domains list will be routed via the proxy IP.
- When adding or editing the Specific domains list you do not need to add sub-domains - i.e. adding
example.com
is sufficient, there’s no need to addimages.example.com
as requests to the sub-domain will be routed through a proxy IP as long as the top-level domain is present in the Specific domains list.
